Test Print for Top Z Distance Setting

This is a test print to help you find the best "Top Z Distance" setting in the Creality Print slicer. Getting this setting right can improve the surface quality of your prints. Since every printer is a little different, it's a good idea to test and see what works best for yours.

How it works:

The printer will print 8 small test pieces. Each one has a different Top Z Distance value (from 0.20mm to 0.28mm), and the number is written on top of each piece.

After printing, take the pieces off the build plate, remove the supports, and look at the surface where the supports touched. Find the one that looks the cleanest or smoothest in that area. Use the number on that piece as your Top Z Distance setting in the slicer for future prints that need supports.

Using the Test File with Your Printer

If you do not have one of the printers listed below, don’t worry, you can still use these test files by loading the settings for your own printer. Here’s how:

1. Open a .3mf File
Open any of the .3mf files in Creality Print. There are two types: tree supports and normal supports. Pick the one with the type of support you want to test.

2. Change to Your Printer
When the file opens, it might load a different printer. To switch, click on the printer name in the top left corner and select your own printer.

3. Select "Discard"
A message will pop up asking if you want to Transfer or Discard the settings. Choose "Discard".

4. What Gets Discarded
This only removes things like speed, strength, and skirt settings. You can change those if you want, but do not change the support settings. I suggest 5-10% infill. Each test object already has the right support settings based on the number printed on top of it.

5. Slice and Print

Once everything looks good, slice the model and print it!
