As a passionate enthusiast of both 3D printing and the boundless creativity found within Minecraft, this articulated silverfish model represents a fusion of these two loves. The allure of transforming digital blocky creatures into tangible, poseable objects is incredibly satisfying. My design philosophy for this articulated silverfish was centered on capturing the essence of its in-game counterpart – its segmented body and unique movement – while leveraging the capabilities of 3D printing to introduce real-world articulation. The goal was to create a functional, visually appealing toy that not only pays homage to Minecraft's iconic (and sometimes annoying!) silverfish but also showcases the elegance of a single-joint design, allowing for dynamic posing and endless imaginative play. This model is a testament to how 3D printing can bring beloved virtual characters to life in new and exciting ways.

Print Parameters

To achieve the best results for this articulated silverfish model, the following print parameters are recommended:

Slicer Software: Creality Print 6.1

Layer height: 0.2mm

Printer: Creality K1C

Filament: Sunlu PLA+ 2.0

Infill: 25%

Retraction: Default (as per Creality Print 6.1 settings for the K1C)

Nozzle Temperature: 230°C

Support: None, built in

These settings have been chosen to optimize print quality, ensure robust articulation, and minimize post-processing, making the printing process as smooth and enjoyable as the final articulated model.

Assembly instructions:

Check out the handy PDF file or simply remove the tiny built in support sticks in the middle of each section. Twist, pull, push and wiggle till the whole body feels free and wobbly. Not too hard though!!
