Great for making armor such as a chestplate and arm bracers but not more flexible pieces such as arm or shoulder joints.

As shown in the images above I have made a bracer which uses 30+ scales weighing just over 100g (you may need more or less depending on the size of your arm).

Impact resistance ~ high

Designed with impact resistance in mind, the scales are extremely tough to break.

A basic form of 'armor' the scales are able to deflect and spread the force of moderate to light impacts (I do not recommend testing this using sharp or metal objects!).

Maker’s Comments:

A custom brim (highly recommended) was added to prevent warping or scales falling off the bed. The brim reduces the amount of filament used compared to the automatic version and is easy to break away. Variable layer height was used throughout testing, giving a clean top finish. I highly recommend using it since I was able to achieve excellent results and improved overhangs at the tip of the scales.

The resulting scales look great with minimal gaps and are strong and impact resistant. I didn't notice any pinching when wearing them which is also a plus.

The only downside is a lack of flexibility which was a little disappointing, however, the resulting material strength is higher than anticipated.
