Design Concept:

I propagate a lot of plants so I needed a design for a planter that was quick and easy to print, easy to maintain and space efficient. I use repurposed plastic snack cups as planter liners, so it had to be sized to accommodate these. After several iterations, this was the design that I came up with.

The planter itself has an inside diameter of 75mm and can be used with snack cup liners, the included liner design or no liner. The watering receptacle allows for easy bottom watering. The four sockets allow the planters to be stacked using the included plastic dowel design or 1/4" wooden dowel rods or string can be run through the sockets and the planters used as hanging planters.

The planters can be stacked in many configurations. I've included base plate designs for a single stack and a spiral stack for extra stability. I've found the spiral stack particularly useful because it allows me to get multiple planters into the same footprint as a single 200mm planter. I've included a dowel set for a six tier spiral stack in the project files. If you need different lengths of dowels for your designs, use the 100mm Dowel model file and then use the Scale function in your slicer to adjust the Y axis to the desired length and the Clone function to produce as many copies as needed.

Printing:

I printed this design on a Creality Ender-3 V3 KE using PLA filament and the default 0.20mm Standard settings, 100% Sparse infill and 3 Wall loops in Creality Print 7.0. No supports are necessary.

Tier 1 - None, directly on base.

Tier 2 - 2 x 35mm and 2 x 72mm

Tier 3 - 2 x 35mm and 2 x 127mm

Tier 4 - 2 x 35mm, 1 x 148mm, 1 x 181mm

Tier 5 and above - 2 x 35mm, 1 x 148mm, 1 x 201mm
