06/08/26 added warning about modified nozzle wipers, if your using any kind of metal brush to wipe the nozzle, make sure it doesn't touch the cartographer!!! Turn your motors off and move the nozzle by hand over the wiper nozzle/waste area and adjust the wiper, you don't want a brass or metal brush touching the cartographer at all!!!

pointing out this missing step. Updated instructions with missing edit in the cartographer.cfg file to fix the problem with the nozzle not aligning during purge and wiping.

By installing a cartographer to your k2 plus you can create a full bed mesh in seconds instead of minutes. This mount requires the cartographer3d V4 standard https://cartographer3d.com and a special firmware found here https://github.com/Jacob10383/k2-improvements

The only downside of this modification is there will be 36mm at the front of the bed that wont be meshed by the sensor.

I created this cartographer V4 mount for the k2 plus, it doesnt need spacers like the mount for the V3, so theres no need to worry about it hitting the front glass door since its using the stock cover. It must be printed in a heat resistant material like ABS, ASA or better to avoid warping or melting since the parts will be close to the nozzle and heated bed.

Here are some tips that i recommend to make the process easier.

Print multiples of each part for spare, just in case a screw creates a crack, strips a hole, etc..

Make sure the screw holes print correctly and clean\cut any imperfections.(xacto knife comes in handy)

Insert the screws in the holes first before assembly to thread the plastic holes. go back and forth slowly to avoid cracking the parts since they are so small. It will make the assembly easier

The original Waste lever flapper needs to be replaced by the one i included. THE ORIGINAL WILL HIT THE CARTOGRAPHER, DO NOT USE THE ORIGINAL WASTE LEVER FLAPPER! I Included a picture so you can see the difference from the original and the one i included.

You will need to add some PTFE High heat resistant smooth tape to the flapper To keep the waste/poop from sticking to the plastic flapper. Here is a link to the tape i used https://a.co/d/09r4xTNg

I have also included a top chain cover with a small zip tie hole to keep the wire close to the cover to keep it from rubbing against other parts. (mainly while the toolhead its in the waste area, there isnt much room for the wire above the cover)

The 3mf file includes the best settings and orientation that worked for me but YMMY.

To assemble:

remove the toolhead PCB cover, remove parts fan assembly, remove the camera and fan. all the screws will be reused so dont lose them.

Put the parts fan on the Outer shell with the top 2 screws, route the cartographer wire like its shown in the picture slide the inner shell making sure the cartographer wire dont get pinched, attach the Cartographer, pull the slack off the wire(this is important since the wire is very close to the parts fan) and screw the cartographer into the outer/inner shell. Install the camera, install the bottom fan screw. spin the parts fan by hand to make sure it can spin freely.

Attach the parts fan assembly to the toolhead. Reinstall all the screws.

Route the cartographer wire like shown in the picture to the side of the chain cover. install the printed pcb cover.

remove the stock chain cover and install the printed chain cover. add a ziptie to the cable like shown in the picture, DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN THE ZIPTIE!

after installing the firmware change the following settings

in your cartographer.cfg

y_offset: 36

Comment out the following lines

#[stepper_y] #position_endstop: -0.4#position_min: -0.4

in your overrides.cfg

add the following under [bed_mesh]

mesh_min: 5, 36

mesh_max: 345, 345

Save and reboot, now you can continue to calibrate your cartographer and do a bed mesh.
