To prevent droppings on walls and windows, you can install an anti-fouling device under the nests to prevent droppings, such as a 20x20cm wooden board, fixed 40cm below the nest.

How to assemble your nest

1- Fix 2 steel hooks according to the center distance of the 2 fixing notches depending on the support (wood, concrete, etc.).

2- Screw the hooks close to the wall, leaving enough space to insert the nest. Place them horizontally, facing outwards.

3- Close the nest with the cleaning hatch, then place the nest by passing the metal hooks through the two notches, then screw the hooks to lock the nest in position.

Where to install your swallow nests

1- The space in front of the nest must be clear. Avoid installing your nest if a tree is planted in front of it, or if another building is opposite. The swallow needs space to enter and fly away from its nest.

2- Avoid a facade with climbing plants (ivy for example)

3- Nests must be at a minimum height of 4 meters. The higher the nest, the more it will be appreciated by swallows.

4- Fix your nests in a place protected from the sun. A nest exposed to the sun quickly increases in temperature. It must therefore remain as much as possible in a shaded place (under a balcony, a wide ledge, etc.)

5- If you already have swallows nesting on a facade, add nests as a priority on this facade.

Maintenance and advice

1- To ensure your nest lasts over time without any problems, I advise you to dismantle the nest after each season to thoroughly clean it and store it inside during the winter. Don't forget to reinstall it the following season, before the swallows return!

2- Don't hesitate to install several nests next to each other to provide an habitat for a greater number of individuals in the colony.
