Introduction
Congratulations on your acquisition of a BB.8 Astromech Droid from Industrial Automaton.
As you have opted to supply your own head unit and to assemble the droid yourself, please follow the instructions below carefully to ensure many years of loyal, trouble-free service.

Design Concept
BB.8 is a speaker mount for an Amazon Echo Dot in the shape of BB8.

This is designed for the 4th and 5th Generation Echo Dot Speakers. The Glacier White colour is recommended to best suit the stock BB8 colour scheme, but with these files you can create your own unique BB.8 and use any colour Echo Dot you want.

As an example, in the supplied pictures I only have a black Echo Dot and opted to print the eyes in white and use a black base. Who is going to be the first to create something new, maybe an all black with red accents "BB.8 Sith edition"?

Design & Printing
BB.8 was designed completely in Tinkercad.
All printing was done on a Creality Ender-3 V3 KE.

All pieces were printed with the following settings:
Media: PETG
Bed: Textured PEI
Temperatures: 235°C Nozzle, 75°C Bed
Z Hop: Slope, Z hop retraction: 0.2
Layer Height: 0.1
First Layer Height: 0.2
Infill: 15%
Supports: (Tree (Auto) - Organic) were used with the Collar, Both Clamshells, and if you choose to print the Eyes upright (STL #10).

Depending on your bed adhesion and print speed, you may also need to add/create supports for the Antenna (STL #09).

Assembly Notes
Most parts have been designed to fit together with a strong friction fit. The droid should be able to be assembled completely without adhesive. But connecting the Clamshells and Side Discs with glue is recommended for a more robust build.

Note: Additional files also included:

STL #06A contains the smaller pieces of the Silver Grey Side Inserts separately, as they may need to be printed slower and with a brim (depending on your printer / filament setup).
There are also additional files (STL #10A and #10B) for each of the Droid's eyes oriented horizontally (instead of vertical in SLT #10). Printing these with a 3 layer raft, a concentric top pattern and Ironing set for all top surfaces (default settings) can produce better looking eyes.

Assembly Instructions
1. Connect the Upper and Lower Clamshells together (apply glue if desired)
2. Install on the Base
3. Install the Energy Containment Unit inside the Droid
3a. Fill Energy Containment Unit with O-R3O units of choice (if there are excess units left over, dispose of immediately)
4. Insert the Collar into the top of the Upper Clamshell
5. Lay out each of the White Side Discs in order (each are numbered on top)
6. Attach the corresponding Orange Rings (each are numbered on the top left arm)
7. Install the Silver Grey Inserts into each Disc (each are numbered on their sides) - Needle-nosed pliers may assist with the smaller pieces
8. Before installing the Side Discs, route the power cable through the bottom of the Base, and up through the Collar at the top. Attach the power connector to the Echo Dot and sit it in the Collar (align the power plug so it fits into the alcove at the back of the Collar).
8. Install each completed Side Disc into the body of the Droid by: inserting the tab at the top, then swinging the bottom of disk into place aligning the mounting tab with the hole in the Disc (apply glue to the lower mounting tab, if desired)
Note: The location of each Disc is numbered on the Lower Clamshell, on the back of each lower mounting tab
9. Install the Antenna into the port at the back of the Droid's head
10. Attach the Eyes to the Droid's Head (Echo Dot) using double sided tape, Blu-Tack, etc
11. Turn on the Echo Dot and adjust its angle to ensure the LED Status Ring is visible through the viewing portal on the Upper Clamshell.
