Design concept

The design features two whimsical characters, Alaric and Professor Tempo, capturing a festive and magical theme tailored for the winter season. Delightful and detailed, the model is a miniature masterpiece exuding charm.

Guardians of the Yuletide Turn who I have named: Alaric, the Hourglass Custodian, and his mechanical owl, Professor Tempo.

Long ago, the week between Christmas and the New Year was a mess of tangled time. People would wake up on December 28th feeling like it was already January, or get stuck in a loop of Christmas carols well into the spring. This seasonal friction created "The Blur," a period where time didn't flow so much as it curdled.

Alaric was a just a simple clockmaker who hated seeing people lose their sense of wonder so quickly. One winter night, he found a broken mechanical owl in the snow and repaired it using a pinch of golden sand found in the back of an ancient sundial. When the owl clicked to life, it didn't just hoot; it began to hum at exactly sixty beats per minute. Alaric named him Professor Tempo.

The Professor explained that the transition between the old year and the new was like a bridge made of glass...too much pressure and it would shatter. Alaric crafted a great staff to hold the remaining golden sand, creating a stabilizer for the world’s rhythm.

Now, during that quiet week after the holidays, the two of them wander about to look after the local people. Alaric uses his staff to keep the warmth of Christmas from fading too fast, while the Professor calculates the exact tension needed to pull the New Year forward. Because of them, the clock strikes twelve not as a jolt, but as a perfect, steady beat.
