Tired of your K1 Max dropping Wi-Fi like it’s 1999?

This is a simple but powerful external antenna mod that massively improves your wireless reception.

I designed this custom bracket in Fusion 360 to mount a U.FL to RP-SMA cable and external antenna directly onto the printer’s chassis. It replaces the weak internal antenna with a proper one—no more flaky uploads, laggy interfaces, or “printer offline” drama.

🛠 What You’ll Need:

M3 x 8mm bolt (at least 4mm longer than the stock one)

Allen key (for bottom panel screws)

U.FL to RP-SMA cable + Antenna

I used this one:

👉 Bingfu Dual Band WiFi Antenna

(or anything similar)

🔧 Installation Steps:

Lay the machine on its left side (careful).

Remove the bottom cover.

Unclip the original antenna from the Wi-Fi chip. It’s just a pressure clip—look at your new cable if you’re unsure. Use gentle force.

Zip-tie the old antenna out of the way to avoid interference.

Drill a small hole in the bottom cover—toward the front right corner. Make sure the new cable reaches and won’t catch on belts, pulleys, or wiring.

Remove the stock M3 bolt from the side cover.

Install the bracket using your longer M3 bolt.

Feed the RP-SMA connector through the bracket, reinstall the nut and washer. Snug it up—not gorilla-tight.
