Stop / Go Communication Keyrings – FreeCAD Quick-Craft with Purpose (Version 1)

This set of "Stop" and "Go" keyrings is a practical and thoughtful communication aid, inspired by a real need. My partner supports people living with dementia and often sees how hard it can be for someone to express themselves when words don’t come easily. That inspired my first emoji keyring design — and this new set builds on that idea, using clear, bold text and intuitive colours to help make communication easier, faster, and more inclusive.

These keyrings are especially useful for neurodivergent individuals or anyone who benefits from visual cues — whether it’s to signal “I need a break” or “I’m ready to go.” I’ve gifted a few sets to a local primary school, where they’ve quickly become favourites in the classroom, helping children express themselves more confidently.

And while they’re incredibly helpful in support and educational settings, they also work great as everyday keyrings, or even resized to work as shopping trolley tokens!

🧩 3-Part Design – Personalised, Practical, and Built to Fit Together Perfectly

This is Version 1 of the Stop/Go design, based on the three-part build method from my original emoji keyrings. It includes:

A front layer with the word “Stop” or “Go” cut out,

A coloured insert that adds contrast and personal flair,

A back layer that completes the piece and makes it durable.

The insert was originally circular, but aligning everything was fiddly — so I redesigned it with a keyed shape. Now, when you fit the three layers together, they lock perfectly into place, giving a clean, professional finish every time.

As I refined the design, I also rounded the edges on all parts to make them safer, smoother, and more comfortable for small hands, school use, or anyone carrying them daily.

Print the front and back parts for “Stop” and “Go.”

Choose your insert colour — classic red and green, or personalise it however you like.

Glue it together, and you’ve got a unique, functional keyring that says exactly what you need it to.
