Model Description

This is a print-in-place American football press mold, designed to easily form a classic football shape using play dough, clay, or even packed snow.

The model consists of two hinged halves that fold together to press material into a smooth, symmetrical football with detailed laces. The default football size is approximately 73 mm long, but the entire model can be uniformly scaled to create smaller or larger balls.

The hinge is fully integrated into the design, making this a single-piece print. Only manual supports are required on the two hinge cap sides, keeping post-processing simple and fast.

Design Concept

The goal of this design was to create a simple, durable, and printable press mold that requires minimal assembly and works straight off the printer.

Smooth internal contours ensure easy release of dough and a clean final shape.

Integrated lace detail

Adds realism without compromising printability or durability.

Scalable design

The mold scales well in slicers, allowing users to create mini footballs or larger versions without redesigning.

Manual supports only where needed

Supports are required only on the hinge caps, keeping the rest of the model support-free and beginner-friendly.

The result is a robust, reusable press mold that works just as well for creative play as it does for fun seasonal uses like snow molding.
