Design Concept

This desiccant holder is designed with functionality and durability in mind. Its vibrant color ensures easy visibility inside any storage setup, while the open structure allows efficient air circulation to prevent moisture accumulation inside vacuum-packed filament reels.

Purpose

The holder's primary function is to house desiccant that absorb moisture and maintains optimal conditions for filament storage in vacuum bags, thereby reducing drying time needed when unpackaged.

The holder is specifically designed to fit tight to the filament on the reel. This placement location will have improved performance over those that are intended to fit in the center area of the reel. It allows the desiccant direct better access to the item you want to protect, the filament.
The curved design allows it to easily nest with the filament, regardless of how much is on the roll, while ensuring that no sharp edges exist that may damage the vacuum bag. Place the lid-side down for best placement.
The holder has been specifically sized to hold 2x the required amount of 'orange' desiccant needed to maintain an 8% RH environment for a standard 202mm diameter filament roll.

Printing Recommendations

Print these holders with PETG or PLA material to withstand varying humidity. Ensure high infill settings (around 25%-30%) to maintain durability and rigidity while keeping the holder lightweight.

Assembly Instructions

Insert the desiccant directly into the holders by hand, the curved design makes it easy to not spill everywhere. Secure it inside covered filament reels. The flexible interlocking mechanisms allow easy insertion and removal without requiring additional tools.
