This model started as a font with each letter including a cat but as the design process went on, I began to see how perhaps one's interest in cats and other designs could help in the learning process.

These prints are great to hang on the wall as decorative glow in the dark art or used as stencils for tracing.

If this project helps one person distinguish between 'G' and 'J', or remember the last few letters of the alphabet, it will be considered mission accomplished.

3D printing settings

These are FDM 3D printed STL files with all 26 letters of the English alphabet that will allow you to splice the letters, enlarge, and arrange them for your printer bed using your preferred slicing software.

You probably will want to rotate the shapes so they print facing down in the opposite direction, especially if you have a patterned build plate!

These can be tricky to print but I found that a 220x220 bed can do a full 200% size in three sets by arranging and flipping the shapes around.

Print them one by one when using multi colored filament rather than by all the layers at once. This ensures different colored letters rather than front to back colors.

For glow in the dark filament, I dried it and slowed down the print speed and increased the infill to make them as thick as possible with the hopes they glow in the dark longer. The materials we used work best with a black light to charge them up. Glow in the dark seems to work better printed at a lower temp but this may vary per filament maker.

You will want to experiment with the correct Z height for the letters that is right for your application.

We used magnet strips to put these on the fridge but you may find it easier to add a cutout shape and glue in magnets so they remain flat on the back.

When using silly putty to hang these on the wall, you can skip the ironing process.

You may modify the design for the size magnets you have available or print individual letters for words or sentences.
