I made this cockroach and insect enclosure with 3d printed vents and a top access port. The top piece is 4.5” and the smaller vents are 2”. I used a hole saw with a drill. The substrate for roaches can be an inch deep layer of coco coir with egg crates stacked across the storage bin to create vertical space. Roaches are good at blattodea composting which is turning leftover vegetable and fruit scraps into nutrient rich frass. Cockroachs are used as feeder insects for reptiles and birds but also can be kept as pets for observation or as composters. The fertilizer will attract natural predatory insects to your garden which help pollinate and remove pest insects. The smaller vents are secured easily by hand tightening and I super glued the top access port so it doesn’t twist. The port allows you to keep the lid closed in the case of flying or fast moving roach species. I can post this model if there is interest, just leave a comment to let me know.
