As 2025 comes to a close, I’m looking back on a year defined by one thing: Persistence. My 2025 Annual Report officially classes me as a "Creative Maker," a title that reflects a journey of turning fleeting sparks of inspiration into tangible reality. This isn’t just a label; it’s a legacy built over a 618-day continuous check-in streak, representing a year of showing up for my craft every single day.

My adventure began on May 2, 2024. I didn’t start with simple toys; I started with engineering. I spent my early days mastering mechanical precision, developing a custom 608 Bearing designed to work with 6mm airsoft pellets. It was a masterclass in tolerances and functionality that taught me exactly what my printers—and I—were capable of.

That technical focus paid off almost immediately when I entered the Mother’s Day Contest. My design, "Mother’s Choice," utilized those custom bearings and resonated with makers worldwide. Out of 2,010 global entries, I was incredibly honoured to place 7th. Seeing my work recognized on a global leaderboard so early on was a massive highlight and a reminder of the quality I strive for.

Throughout the rest of the year, I pushed myself to enter every contest available. While the podium has been elusive since that first win, the real victory was the quiet explosion of my own skill set. With every entry, I was no longer just printing parts; I was creating characters and atmosphere. I brought the pixelated world of Minecraft to life through a face-changing Ghast and an intricate Silverfish, and explored detailed textures with my Halloween Bernie duo.

I began to see 3D printing as a way to elevate my home, designing everything from the fun Cat Clock and the sophisticated Black & Gold Horizon timepiece to a complete Chic Coffee Canister set. I even found ways to blend mascot charm with workshop utility by turning the Creality mascot into a practical Safety Guardian tool. Each model was a stepping stone, proving that even without a trophy, my ability to design and execute complex ideas was reaching a new level.

The most meaningful projects of 2025 weren't for a leaderboard; they were for the people I love. For the CubeMe contest, I shared my fiancée’s inspirational weight loss journey alongside the transformation of my own brand-new dedicated print room.

I ended the year by mastering a completely new workflow, moving from AI-generated concepts to hand-painted physical models, and eventually into stop-motion animation. Whether it was the Santa-suit Creality mascot or the custom 54-seat Legami Pen Stadium I made as a special Christmas gift for my fiancée, these projects proved that 3D printing is at its best when it makes life more creative and personal.

2026: A New Focus on the Craft

After a year of chasing contest leaderboards—culminating in a December where I spent nearly every waking hour creating—I’ve had a major realization: my best work happens when I design for the love of the craft, not for a scorecard.

I’ve noticed that the current contest landscape often rewards the same styles and established followings, sometimes overlooking the new creators trying to get a following and the sheer innovation and technical effort that goes into a project like my month-long Christmas series. Because of this, I’m making a change for 2026 and stepping back from the contest grind to focus on projects that push my limits (though I might still dabble if the right spark hits!). I'm reclaiming my time to focus on what matters: the art, the engineering, and the process.

My 2025 stats—618 days of continuous check-ins, 33 original models, and 660 hours on the printer with an 87.85% success rate—show a level of dedication I’m incredibly proud of. But in the coming year, I’m reclaiming that time. I want to focus on the projects that push me the most: the complex hand-painting, the intricate stop-motion animations, and the AI-driven innovations that don't fit into a contest box. I’m moving forward with a focus on perfection in the process, making for the sake of the make.
