Sometime ago I spotted an awesome design called Singing in the Rain featuring a model of the famous scene of Gene Kelly swinging from the lamp post from the move of the same name. I couldn't workout in my head how the designer printed the rain and it blew my mind.

Skip forward a few months and working on it in the background I finally cracked it and worked out how it was done. No reverse engineering, no youtube tutorials just a good old fashioned puzzle to solve.

❤️The end result is a design that gives the illusion of a 360 love heart suspended in over 400 strings. As I wanted a whole heart I had to go down a slightly different route with this design so I printed it in two parts and both are then slid into an outer shell giving the impression of one heart.







When I first got into printing I was mesmerised by the models as they printed and I could watch them for hours. After designing this model and watching the prototype print it took me straight back to that first print. I understand the science and mechanics of it but it still blew my mind just like that first print. 🤯

This is the perfect model to print for your loved one for Valentines or maybe you just love 3D printing that much 😊💕
