Star Wars is one of the most successful movie franchises of all time. The premise is simple: Luke and his friends are on the "light" side, while Vader and his minions are on the "dark" side. We also can't forget about the evile dark lord, Darth Sidious, also known as Palpatine, can we? You wouldn't expect someone on the dark side to wear a Santa hat, would you? They are all dark, and sinister, and not cheery, and not like Christmas. Well, that’s exactly what Frikarte3D did, creating one of the funniest ornaments in history! When I saw this ornament, I knew I had to print it. I gathered my white and black filament and started with some nice white PLA. Once the model reached layer 14, the G-code automatically paused the print. I then switched to black filament and started printing again on my K1C. After the first layer, I noticed an issue: the black filament had overlapped the white (as shown in the final picture). I quickly stopped the print and attempted to diagnose the problem. Though I wasn’t entirely sure what caused it, I decided to pause the print one layer after the number recommended by Frikarte3D, and everything went smoothly from there. I stopped the print at layer 15 for the black filament change and layer 19 for the red filament change. Aside from that, the process went well! I ended up printing two of these ornaments—one for myself (since I could never go without having one) and another for my brother, who is a diehard Star Wars fan! A big thanks to for the amazing model!
