Today was a bad spool day for me, which started early with a roll of green PLA + filament I was printing with decided to unroll itself 5 or 10 times. I just noticed it in time to be able to get it back on the spool only for it to do it 4 more times, I think, 🤔 but it did do it a few times at least, 😅😅 so this carried on even after I had changed to the black ABS in pic, at one stage I had to restart the print because it became almost a birds 🐦 nest 🪹 🪺 after I cut the tangled part off the spool it, just like a clock spring, unwound itself another heap of times so slowly using my thumb kept pressure on the filament till I got it back on spool holder, the printer in question here is a my new K1 Max so I'm not very familiar with it, but the spòol holder fits on the back of the printer so the space i have the printer in has no room to put the spool holder on the sides so for now it stays at the rear,(see attached photos), so anyways I loaded the filament back up but yeah I had to continuously watch as it would start to unravel the filament around the spool holder, i would then have to untangle the filament off the spool holder n back on the spool. I got sick of that real quick and as I was up to the halfway point I paused the job to look for a temporary spool and filament brake, so grabbed the first thing I saw with some weight, a drill case perfect, well it did the job on the job lol 😆 so now I need to come up with something more permanent till I set up its proper home, any suggestions on a solution would be greatly appreciated.
