❄️ SPIN-A-DOODLE ❄️ The Snowflake Maker!

📐 Design Concept:

The concept is simple - similar to Spirograph but contained within it’s own case. Spin-A-Doodle is inspired by a toy I had as a child... I have fond memories of using it however it was considerably larger and far less versatile.

In contrast, I’ve designed this little device to be ultra compact but still fun and reliable – take it anywhere and doodle anytime!

🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Who Is It For?

Spin-A-Doodle is perfect for creatives of any age.

My 6-year-old son & I had great fun drawing the patterns shown in the photos above.

This crafty device is simply perfect as a stocking filler, party bag filler, creative stress release, travel companion or simply just to pass time as a quick and easy print.

🏗️ Spin-A-Doodle Construction:

I will upload a PDF Construction & User Guide shortly, but for now…

The main Spin-A-Doodle unit consists of 4 parts:

1. Base

2. Shell

3. Disc

4. Ring

Print the 4 main unit parts.

Slide the Base into the Shell - Push firmly together and the base will permanently click into place. This is now the Doodle Case.

Squeeze the Ring onto the Disc – this is now the Doodle Wheel.

Firmly insert the Wheel into the Case for storage.

When you want to doodle – remove the Wheel and push the Disc out of the Ring.

⚙️ Hex Stencils:

As well as the main Spin-A-Doodle unit there are many different Hex Stencils which are to be inserted into the Case's hexagonal socket.

Currently there are five sets of Hex Stencils:

01 – Basic Shapes

02 – Christmas Patterns

03 – Other Shapes

04 – Alphabet A-P

05 – Alphabet Q-Z

I plan to make more stencils. If there is a specific stencil shape you would like just get in touch and I will make it!

✏️ How To Use Spin-A-Doodle:

Cut a 60mm diameter paper circle.

(To help making paper circles... If you have a 2D printer download and print the Circles PDF or 3D print the Paper Circle Template.)

Sandwich the paper circle between the Disc & Ring to create a loaded Doodle Wheel.

Firmly insert this Wheel into the Case.

Choose a Hex Stencil and insert into the hexagonal hole in the Case.

Draw around the Stencil then rotate the Wheel. The Wheel has 24 positions and it will click into place each turn. The Wheel Position Indicator below the Hex Stencil can help you keep track.

Draw around the Stencil again, turn the wheel and repeat until you are back where you started.

You can now remove the Wheel to reveal your Spin-A-Doodle doodle.

🎨 Doodle Ideas - How To Get Creative:

Want to make all the possible patterns? Good luck... It’s impossible!! - There is an infinite amount of doodle pattern possibilities but here are some ideas to get you started…

Try using different Hex Stencils – There are lots to choose from and I’m planning to make more.

Try changing the angle of your Hex Stencil in the Case’s hexagonal socket.

Try using a second or third Hex Stencil on the same doodle.

Don’t always draw around the stencil in every one of the 24 Wheel positions – Try drawing every 2 clicks, 3 clicks or 4 clicks. Even try drawing 2 then skipping 2 etc. etc.

Remember you don’t have to draw the whole Stencil either – just draw a certain part.

Try using coloured papers and coloured pens

Further enhance your creations by colouring in the doodles.
