I wanted to make this beautiful iris mechanism box because I love 3d printing mechanical things. I love that I can choose different colors for each part and make the final product to my liking. I love the way different pieces can come together and make something amazing. The pieces took only 10 hours and 30 minutes to finish printing at 100/200 mm/s. Since I have a K1 max, I could have printed these pieces in less than half the time but I chose a slow speed for better quality. One of the problems I faced was that the first layer wasn't sticking very well onto the bed due to the very tiny first layer on the little blades. However, that was easily fixed with some glue. For the box, I used black ABS. For the blades, I used PLA dual-color silk purple and gold filament. For the blade articulating ring, I used Marble PLA. I love the way the purple blades shine in the light when spinning. After printing, I put the lower blade articulating ring on the box and put the blades on top of it. Then I put the other blade articulating ring on top of the blades. I then put the pins in the holes and secured them from the bottom. It did take a while for the blades to move smoothly, but it was worth it for the satisfying result. Also, when putting the box together make sure that you put the top blade articulating ring on the right blades so that the pins can go in the right place.
