So everyone who buys a printer from the new Ender 3 S1 Series knows this problem. You are hiped up to start your first print and start to preheat your printer. After a few seconds you hear a loud noise. You stand up scared from your chair and look out the window. But no its not a jet plane flying over your house. Its just this very noisy fans that sounds like an airplane takes off.

I want to make the Ender 3 S1 printers in this world to go silent. And here I show you my solution to make, the Ender 3 S1 Plus or any other printer with a Creality Sprite Extruder, very much quieter.

So i started with the partcooler because I thought it is the louder fan. But after fixing it, I found out that the cooler fan for the heatbreak is the jet engine that starts at 50°C nozzle temp.

For the partcooler I used the already installed sheetmetal part for the old fan. And the reduction piece aswell. I tried to make it as easy as possible and use most of the parts that already are there.

This is the partcooler adapter model I made. With this upgrade the old radial fan is replaced with a axial 40x40mm fan.

Then I made a solution to mount a 40x40mm axial fan to the extruder as a replacement for the turbine engine, that blown the papers from my desk every time I printed something.

This is the adapter model to fit a 40x40mm fan to the 30x30mm hole one the left side of the extruder. Its not concentric to the original hole. If it were the fan would crash into the plastic cover on the X-axis.

This is the airdeflector model to deflect the air down into the cooling block. This part actually replaces the old radial fan. Its so tiny but makes huge noise, so it had to go.

To mount the airdeflector I used the same screws that were in the old fan.

Now I do not want to step on the toes of the Noctua partisans out there, but I used Sunon fans for this upgrade. They have this MagLev technology that makes their fans very quiet and the fans cost only 2/3 of Noctua fans. So you can deside if you want to go with the brown blowers or save a few bucks with the nearly same results. (Not a Sponsor I just like the Sunon products.)

If you want to make this upgrade you need to solder the fans to JST plugs. I just cut away the connectors from the old fans and soldered them to the new ones. If you cant solder you have to buy very expensive crimping pliers for JST plugs. So I would learn soldering before I would spend 50 bucks on pliers that serve just one purpose.

As a little tip: You can solder a 56 Ohm resistor before the fan in the plus wire, to step down the fan a little to make it even quieter.

As the endresult I measured an average noise of 47 dB on a Testprint. Stupidly I didnt thought of measure the noise before the mod. But with much confedense I can say that my printer is now heavenly silent in comparison to before. The loudest fans are now the ones on the motherboard and the power supply. But I already ordered the two 24v 60x60x15mm fans for this upgrade. :D
