The new Multiboard plate isn’t meant to replace the octagonal version — it simply serves a different role. The octagonal plate is the condensed system, perfect for tight setups, compact tool clusters, and maximizing anchor points in a small footprint.

The new plate offers a cleaner, more evenly spaced grid that’s better for:

full wall layouts

larger accessories

long-term modular expansion

cleaner alignment between multiple panels

Both systems are completely valid, and neither eliminates the other. And if you want to mix them, there are adapters that let you connect octagonal plates to the new grid, so you can build a hybrid setup without reprinting everything.

Bottom line:

Octagonal = dense precision

New plate (square) = clean universal spacing

They work side-by-side depending on what you’re building.
