Cura by Ultimaker

Cura is an open-source slicing software created by Ultimaker, one of the leading manufacturers of desktop 3D printers.

Cura has all of the features you need from a slicer including layer height adjustment, speed control, support material generation, and more.

It's also incredibly simple to use; just drag and drop your model into Cura and let it do its job!

One of the unique features of Cura is its ability to detect which type of printer you have connected and automatically optimize the settings accordingly. This makes it ideal for those who are new to 3D printing or don't want to spend hours fine-tuning their settings.

Simplify3D

If you're looking for something a bit more advanced than Cura, Simplify3D might be what you need. It's a paid slicing software with an extensive list of features that allow users to customize every aspect of their print job. With Simplify3D, users can adjust everything from nozzle temperature and material flow rate to layer height and infill patterns.

There are also dozens of pre-loaded profiles available for different types of printers which makes setup quick and painless. The downside is that Simplify3D isn't cheap; at $150 USD per license, it's one of the pricier options on this list.

KISSlicer

KISSlicer (short for “Keep It Simple Slicer”) is another popular option for those looking for something more advanced than Cura but without breaking the bank like Simplify3D does.

KISSlicer offers many of the same features as its competitors such as adjustable layer heights, speeds, infills, supports, etc., but at just $50 USD per license, it's much more affordable than other options on this list. KISSlicer also has a unique feature called “Smart Supports” which automatically detects where support material needs to be added in order to improve print quality without having to manually add them yourself!
