How to install Creality Cloud Plugin on OctoPrint

Last time we introduced Creality Cloud integration for Cura and Creality Print. Today, we are going to demonstrate another magical function of Creality Cloud integration for OctoPrint. OctoPrint is a very popular network-based 3D printer management tool that typically runs on a Raspberry Pi single-board computer (SBC). It allows you to start and monitor 3D prints wirelessly using an online user interface. OctoPrint plug-ins take this incredibly useful tool to the next level by providing custom features and add-ons that make your 3D printing experience even smoother. Installable from within the OctoPrint interface, they’re an easy way to add substantial functionality. 

Similarly, our Creality Cloud plugin also needs to be installed in the OctoPrint interface so that you can connect the Creality Cloud APP to the Raspberry Pi device and print directly through the APP by operating OctoPrint. In this article, we will guide you on how to install the Creality Cloud plugin on OctoPrint and add a Raspberry Pi device to the Creality Cloud APP to control printing.

Step 1: Make Sure You’ve Installed OctoPi on Raspberry Pi

The simplest way to run OctoPrint is by booting your Raspberry Pi with the OctoPi image. To get there, you’ll need a tool to flash your SD card. And for that, we recommend using the Raspberry Pi Imager, available for Windows, MacOS, and Linux. Step 2: Setup Creality Cloud Plugin on OctoPrint

Creality Cloud Plugin is a bridge that connects the OctoPrint to Creality Cloud APP. It is suggested to install Creality Cloud Plugin V0.5.0 on OctoPrint for a better experience. 

 

Here’s how to get started installing the Creality Cloud Plugin:

 

1. Copy the following three plugin links or copy them from Creality Cloud Github.

Plugins that the Creality Cloud Plugin relies on:

* Required installation or it may cause abnormal temperature or incomplete functionality.

https://github.com/OllisGit/OctoPrint-DisplayLayerProgress/releases/download/1.26.0/master.zip

2. Paste and install the plugin links one by one via the bundled “Plugin Manager” on OctoPrint.

3. Restart the OctoPrint server when you get a prompt.

Step 3: Generate A Key File in Creality Cloud APP

1. Download and open the Creality Cloud APP on your phone, select “Printing” > click the “+” icon to add device > choose “Raspberry Pi” > click “Create Raspberry Pi” > click “Download Key File”. 

2. Transmit the Key file to your computer. 

Step 4: Upload the Key File to OctoPrint

Back to the OctoPrint interface on your desktop, click on the OctoPrint setting button > find the “Crealitycloud Plugin” on the left column list > click “Browse” to select and upload the Key file that you transmitted from Creality Cloud APP.

Step 5: Slice & Print 

Before you start...

1. Connect your 3D printer with your Raspberry Pi through a USB cable. Here we recommend using a Raspberry Pi 3.

2. Select the USB serial port detected by OctoPrint to connect to your printer. 

Start slicing and printing...

1. Open Creality Cloud APP, select My Devices > Raspberrypi (a custom device name)> Select slice.

2. Choose a model file to slice and start printing.
