Yesterday I posted a topic: When was your first time knowing 3D printing?

We received a lot of great responses. Now I'm going to show you some representative comments. Let's check it out!

@Jeff Cheatham: I was taking classes at Front Range Community College, working on the CAD degree. Part of that program was some 3D printing classes. About 2 weeks into the first printing class and I knew O needed a 3D printer.

@Raven C: It was during the pandemic, a lot of stores closed and we needed items. I saw a guy online making things on his 3d printer, but financially I thought it was out of reach. learned otherwise when I looked into it. now I have 3 printers and looking to buy a 4th.

@Denmarjas: Years ago I had a passion for woodworking. unfortunately, my dust allergies got the best of me and I had to all but quit what I thought would be my retirement pastime. I am retired now and was curious about 3d printing. Now after about 2years and 2 machines later, I am hooked. I have printed a number of my woodcrafts in PLA and more recently have been working more with PETG. I love it.

@sneakypete: Well I've known about 3d printing for about 20 years but with a huge printer that my school had and ever since I heard it becoming more affordable I took to it. My first 3d printer was a monoprice select mini v2. It got me started then I modded it, and then came my CR-10. The rest is now history.

@Quirky: I learned about 3d printing in 2018 when I became a stay-at-home and decided I was going to use it as a hobby for something fun to do :) I occasionally sell items I've made but also print things for friends and family as well :) and now playdough cutters and cookie cutters for my kid

@Alfredo Gonzalez: A couple of years ago, when my daughter had to pay for having some parts printed for a project, I decided it was time to dive into this world. It turns out my younger daughter is the one making money with the printer!!!! She is 14 by the way...

@Flying Dutchman: I know it was years ago when I saw it on tv and I was thinking that's some good tech and wanna know more about it but sadly they cost a fortune and that kind of money we did not have so I forgot about it and years later I saw that 3d printing was really good so then I bought my first Creality one resin printer and instantly hooked 1 month later I bought the ender 3 v2 pro.

@st3v3dee: I think it was about 7 years ago. and addicted all that time. 3d printing was called the 3the industrial revolution but that was maybe a bit too overwhelming. is see 3d printing as a perfect tool for prototyping and less than a production machine for a lot of quantity pieces. the time is still too long for a print. I use it to make tools and gadgets and it's perfect because I draw all of my design

@SouffleFillet: When I first heard about 3D printing, it was with the 3D pens that allowed you to draw objects in the air. I thought they were neat but at the time were very expensive. a few years later I saw a 3D printer for sale at my work. it was several hundred dollars and I wanted one badly, but unfortunately was not in the budget. years have passed, until this year I was gifted one for my birthday.

@QuietOne4000: It was a long ago when I was studying engineering in the late ‘80s. At that time it was said to be one of the most promising technologies for the future. Then in the early 2000s friends started to DIY 3D printers as a hobby. By 2010, I was working with high-tech companies, and I was considering entering the market (e.g HP, a major printer company). Now I am retired and printing at home.
