Retrofitting the Creality Hi heated bed cable with a hinged R18 cable chain (11x10 mm inner diameter).

I made two adapters into which the R18 cable chain is inserted and secured to the heated bed and housing.

The R18 cable chain can be opened, so no cable disassembly is necessary. Only the sheathing around the cable needs to be removed! Otherwise, the cable chain cannot be closed due to the diameter.

A larger chain would have been an alternative, but it would have been too stiff. (tested)

I've tested this for a while now, and it works well on my printer.

On the heatbed side, it's recommended to use temperature-stable filament, as the heated bed (as the name suggests) gets hot. Therefore, ASA or at least ABS should be used. On the housing side, this isn't critical; PLA also works there.

Assembly:

Caution: The heated bed carries mains voltage;

the printer must be disconnected from the mains!

Remove the cover on the connection box on the bed and replace it with the adapter cover. Remove the braided sleeve on the heated bed cable, leaving only a few centimeters of the cable attached to the printer housing.

Insert the holder into the housing until the collar is flush with the housing.

Once both adapters are mounted, the cable chain can be opened, adjusted to the desired length, and then installed.

Then attach the clips and secure them with cable ties. Ensure that the clip on the heated bed is not at the bottom, otherwise it will rub against the housing. That's it.

Afterwards, the self-test should be performed again to recalibrate the vibration compensation, as we have made some changes.
